Many of us have been using Internet for a decade now, but how many of us are aware of the change in the revolution of Web? Web is now referred to as Web 2.0, a term coined by O’Reilly Media and Media Live International at a Web Development Conference in October 2004. Web 2.0 originates on the existing web standards, and it’s difficult to distinguish where Web 1.0 ends and Web 2.0 commence. Google, Wiki or Wikipedia, Flickr (shared photo database), del.icio.us, last.fm, etc. are considered to be a pioneer’s of asynchronous technology.
A couple of years back, former American secretary of state,Madeline Albright, described Pakistan as "International migraine" but for us in India,it is a far bigger disease,an incurable Cancer. What to do with a lunatic whose own house is on fire and instead of concentrating on dousing that fire,it wants to set its neighbour's house on fire.Since no international sporting team is visiting it for the fear of insurgency, this jealous and paranoid nation wants to put India in same bracket. No wonder, state sponsered home-grown militants are issuing threats to hockey world cup,IPL and commonwealth games, specifically targetting the foreigners. Now the moot question is what to talk, whom to talk and most importantly, wheather to talk at all.Our neighbour created lot of rheotoric just on announcement of India's readiness to talk early this month and imagines that by raising issues of Balochistan, river water sharing,it can rally various political parties and militant organisations, and convince them that instead of fighting among one another and the state of Pakistan, they should direct their evil energies towards India. And though India says talks would focus only on the issue of terror,i believe we are going to see lot of disagreement just on the issues to talk. These talks are unlikely to reap any tangible benefits other than being an effort to impress America that both sides are at least talking.America is then likely to sell these talks to its domestic constituency as a diplomatic victory. My fears are that failure of talks may give a filip to insurgents that violence and not talks are the answer to solution of this impasse. All in all, a very tough test for Indian diplomacy and security apparatus.
