Lord Rama, Sita and Laxman were living in the Dandakaranya Forest. Suddenly a golden deer came into view. Now, can a deer be made of gold? But the skin of that deer was pure gold. When Sita saw it, a feeling of attachment came into her mind and she said, ?Lord, I want the skin of this deer.? What did this feeling of attachment do? It gave birth to separation. Who was that deer? He was in fact Maricha, the maternal uncle of Ravana. Ravana had ordered him to use his magic powers to become a golden deer to lure Rama away. Maricha asked, ?Why don�t you do it?? Then Ravana became very angry so Maricha said, ?It will be better for me to die at the hands of Lord Shri Rama than be killed by you?. |

One of the most handsome hero of all times in Hindi cinema has been Shashi Kapoor,the youngest of the sons of great Prithviraj Kapoor.He had beauty,charm,elegance and an amazing youthful exuberance in his movies in 60s and 70s like Jab-Jab Phool Khile,Waqt,Deewar and other great movies of those times.Having fond memories of those era when i was not even born and saw these movies either on TV or VCDs,i was shocked to see him on TV yesterday watching recorded telecast of Filmfare awards of 2010 in which he received lifetime achievement award from Shabana Azmi and Yash Chopra.He looked frail and very old,much older than his age of around 70 years.He was crying at every other moment ,perhaps remembering those good old days.He came on stage in a wheel-chair and could utter no more than a "thank you"when mike was given in his hands.Whole audience which was in splits moments back,buoyed by the antics of two Khans,Shahrukh and Saif,went into a pin-drop silence when Shashi Kapoor was being brought to stage while clips from his illustrious career in films were being displayed on wide screeen in background.
I could see the faces of Hritik Roshan,Shahrukh and Saif Khan as well as many others,which went pale and blank on being in face with this sudden inevitability of aging.All the fame,name,money they thought were theirs for always,seemed very small in front of this truth.If an angel like Shashi Kapoor can be in such a pitiable state,they too could not escape this truth except for an untimely death.Perhaps this was the reason due to which most men consider aging worse than end of life.
That is why our late spiritual guru said-sages pray and live a devoted life so that their end moments should be devoid of suffering and pain,and they die a peaceful death.This is another matter that as soon as Mr Kapoor was taken away from stage,everybody forgot him,his state and the inevitable truth,to enjoy the performance of next performer.
I know many young among you would say why not enjoy your today and worry about aging as it has to come. Of course it has to come but suffering and pain can be lessened if we remember God and not waste an oppurtunity to do good deeds all the time.
